My name is Taryn McCauley and I am originally from Canton, Ohio. During my time at GlenOak High School I was able to participate in the Early Childhood Education Vocational Program where my love for children and particularly teaching began to flourish. After completing high school I went on to attend Kent State University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2010 and received my teaching degree. I was able to complete my student teaching with children ages preschool-3rd grade in Kent, Ohio and Akron, Ohio. After I graduated college I subbed for Kent City Schools and during the summer worked for the summer camp that the schools offered. During this time, my role was book club leader and I took on the responsibility of incorporating education into the camp in both a meaningful and enjoyable way.
Before I relocated to Portsmouth, Ohio I worked at a daycare that valued education and the Ohio Early Learning Standards where I worked with the infants and helped them accomplish the goals that both my co-lead teacher and I set for the individual children. I was hired here at the CLC in August of 2015 and I look forward to teaching the youngest students here for years to come!
