Amanda Hedrick, Preschool Teacher

Degree: Bachelor of Science: Human Ecology, The Ohio State University
Master of Arts: Adult Learning & Higher Education, Morehead State University

Experience: Preschool Teacher, SSU Children's Learning Center

E-mail Address: ahedrick@shawnee.edu

Amanda Hedrick has been a preschool teacher here at the CLC since she was first hired in 2000. She began her career as a classroom teacher of three year olds. As the program evolved, the practice of looping began, thus the mix-age groupings that currently exist today. Amanda has also served as adjunct faculty for SSU’s Department of Teacher Education. Amanda understands the importance of education and life-long learning and is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She also serves as an educational consultant for COAD’s Child Care Resource Network where she conducts trainings for Family Child Care Providers and center staff.

Amanda is married to her husband Jason who is a Sergeant with the City of Portsmouth Police Department. They enjoy spending time with their two sons, Cole and Dalton, who keep them very busy. Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors, playing sports, gardening, traveling, and cooking. These things often creep into her work and play with the young children in her classroom.

After graduating from Wheelersburg High School, Amanda attended The Ohio State University where she majored in Early Childhood Development and Education. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a great deal of time at the A Sophie Rogers Lab School and credits this facility for her desire to never stop learning. Amanda earned her Master's degree in Adult Learning and Higher Education/Counseling from Morehead State University. She is eager to apply all of the knowledge and skills she has acquired to provide the best education for your children.
