Meet Our Staff
Beth Rice, Director
Born and raised in Portsmouth, Beth Rice graduated from Portsmouth High School. She received her BA from the University of Kentucky and her MA in Educational Administration from the University of Hawaii.
Her career began as a Speech and Language Pathologist here in southern Ohio, but she felt a desire to go into school administration and spent several years as a principal of exemplary early childhood and elementary programs. Her family returned to this area after living in Hawaii and she has worked the past six years as consultant for the Ohio Department of Education. Beth’s greatest joy is to work in an early learning center where a group of committed individuals are passionate about giving a young child the best and most loving experience they could have in school.
Beth is the mother of two daughters. Bethany is an Intervention Specialist at Stone Middle School in Mississippi. Her husband Will is a graduate student/teaching assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Taylor is a senior at Shawnee State University majoring in Psychology.
Nearly all of Beth’s family live in the Portsmouth area. Beth attends Cornerstone United Methodist church, where she is very involved in both Children's Ministry there and volunteering with Operation Christmas Child (shoebox ministry to children in third world countries).
"One summer, several years ago, while visiting my family here in Portsmouth, I remember driving down to SSU and sitting in the parking lot of the Children's Learning Center thinking that one day I would love to have the privilege of working in this exemplary center. My dream has come true and I am excited to be a part of a program that will join many hearts and hands around the wonderful children of our learning center".
