Meet Our Staff
Nancy Davenport, Director
Degree: BS & M.ED. Early Childhood Education, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio
Experience: Nancy has thirty plus years working with children and families as an early childhood educator, parent trainer, conference presenter, director of psychiatric residential treatment facilities, and as a Licensed Professional Counselor in agency and private practice. Her mentor, Dr. Burton White, formerly professor at Harvard University, is the author of The First Three Years. He has been instrumental in documenting the importance of the first three years of life and what makes a child truly competent.
Nancy has been the Director of University Laboratory Preschools in the past and she is so excited to be one again. “The opportunity to work with children, parents, professional teachers, and teachers in training as well as the community is the most wonderful gift I can imagine. The Children’s Learning Center is the most nurturing, supportive, learning environment I have ever seen and truly a gift to this community and its families.”
Most importantly, she is the mother of two grown children, Amanda and Nate, and three grandchildren, George, Emma Grace and Samuel, who all live in the greater Canton, Ohio area. “Ones own children tend to keep one humble, honest but also grateful for the privilege of watching them become productive, loving adults in their own right…”
