Teresa S. Davis is familiar with the “big picture” of young learners in our Appalachian area. She has advocated for young learners and their families for sixteen years. Her educational background includes her positive experiences in the Care and Guidance of Children at the Scioto County Joint Vocational School under the supervision of Rachel O’Roark and Mary Ellen Miller during her high school years. From there, she studies at Ohio University and was a student of Dr. Margaret King. After working in the field for several years, she returned to college and finished her degree at Shawnee State University. In her studies at SSU, she found great inspiration studying under Dr. Patric Leedom and Dr. Barbara Trube – and the entire faculty of the Department of Teacher Education. She acknowledges Darlene David as a mentor during her time at the Children’s Learning Center as a teaching assistant. She values the work of Dr. Lillian Katz and builds on her philosophies each day in her classroom.

Teresa and her husband Russell Davis live in Greenup, Kentucky where his is Director of Bands and Choir at Greenup County High School. Her twin daughters, Aubrey and Hilary, attend The Ohio State University. Her step-daughter, Kate, attends Morehead State University. Teresa enjoys fishing, walking/running, reading professional journals and famous speeches and essays. She enjoys studying fine arts and also enjoys attending concerts – especially classic rock!

Teresa values service work and has followed this calling during her adult life. She plans on living, working, and loving life in Jamaica (or other unknown destination) someday in order to accommodate and extend these dreams! She is enjoying her time each day in her preschool classroom with her young learners and teaching assistants – creating a “lifelong love of learning” in the environment.
