The Children's Learning Center is a university-based lab school serving infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-agers. Our school is a place where joy, discovery and imagination fuel learning experinces to develop life-long learners. Child-centered, degreed teachers plan daily learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate and foster a sense of wonder. Children enrolled in our program learn to take care of themselves, to take care of others, and to take care of their school.
The mission of the CLC is to provide a collaborative, playful environment that is innovative, developmentally appropriate, and engages students, families, and future professionals so that all children can develop into their full potential.
Shawnee State University Children’s Learning Center partners with children and families following principles and policies that reflect a developmental and humanistic view of children and childhood. That is, all children are respected as individuals without regard to race, color, creed, gender, religion, national origin, or disability. Children’s individual rates of growth, their dispositions, their needs, and their interests are honored. We actively support communication and continuity between the child’s family and the CLC, and we seek to establish an environment that nurtures cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth.
